Monday marks the 25th anniversary of Martin Luther King's Day of Service. As the saying goes, make it a day ON, not a day OFF by rolling up your sleeves and doing something to help. However, there's no reason why your love of your fellow man can't be combined with your love of sewing and crafting. Here are a few fun ideas to get you started!

~Tie fleece blankets to donate to hospitals or homeless shelters. This is a great project to involve kids, teenagers, and even non-crafters. You could make and share them all in one day.

~Gather friends to tie a quilt to donate to a military widow or widower. Military families have given so much, and a tangible offering of comfort is a great way to show service and gratitude.

~Make simple fleece scarves, mittens, or hats to give to your school crossing guard for those cold, winter mornings and afternoons.

~Get involved with Project Linus in your area to help provide security blankets to kids and teens in hospitals, shelters, and hospice.
