50 Things to do With a Fat Quarter: #10 Fabric-Covered Jar Lids

30. July 2013 08:30 by Liz Burton | 0 Comments

I love today's fat quarter project! Not only do you get to use great fabric, but you can up-cycle, as well! I love the idea of taking something you were going to throw away and putting it good use! The jars I am using were recently used to store my pickles and pizza and spaghetti sauces.

I simply gave them a really good wash and put them to work. I am using gray with white polka dots from 4my3boyz Fabrics.  I would also suggest that, if you use a lighter fabric, you paint your lid white.  The darker color of the lid will show through if not painted white. Okay, let's get busy!

50 Things to do With a Fat Quarter: #9 Baby Burp Cloths

22. July 2013 17:27 by Liz Burton | 0 Comments

Did you hear the news? A brand new bouncing-baby boy was born yesterday to the Royal Family! Now, were I a neighbor with the Royal Family, I would definitely take over a few of these fabulous burp cloths! They are made with quilters cotton fabric and a tri-fold cloth diaper which can be purchased from your local big box store.  I love the absorbency of the tri-fold diaper but I wanted to add a bit of fun and color. Today's feature fabric is Easter Little Bunny Floral on Light Blue (and although it is Easter-ish, it screams brand-new baby to me) from 4my3boyz.  These burp cloths are super easy and super fun to make.  And from one fat quarter, you can make three burp cloths!

All done! That's it! And if you are giving away as a gift, simply fold in thirds, roll & tie with a coordinating ribbon! I personally think a new mom can never have too many burp cloths...

50 Things to Do With a Fat Quarter: #7 Japanese Furoshiki

9. July 2013 11:41 by tbev | 0 Comments

4my3boyz Furoshiki

Today's fat quarter project could not be simpler or more fun! My friend brought me a special gift from Japan last year, some treats wrapped up in a beautiful cloth. She explained that the cloth is a furoshiki, an all-purpose tool that is also beautiful. The Japanese use furoshikis for everything from lunch bags to gift wrap to personal apparel. I love the idea of incorporating fun fat quarters, like today's Chevron Black on White from 4my3boyz Fabrics to use as your own reusable furoshikis or as a fun way to share this trend with friends and family. Plus, check out all the different techniques to tie a furoshiki!
