FabSearch

Looking for something you can't find? Here is a great Search tool with several options to find that illusive fabric and more!

There are three ways to find what you need!

FabShopFabSearch, sponsored by The Fabric Shop Network, makes it easy to find information about products available online and in member's retail shops. There are three easy ways to search for the products and information you need.

Search for fabrics, tools, patterns & books (with graphics)

Find classes, newsletters, tutorials & more! (text only or with graphics)

Send a specific request to over 1,000 shops! (search via email)

If you have a specific product you're looking for and haven't been able to find it with one of the search options, you can send an email to fabsearch@aol.com.

Provide as much detailed information as you possibly can. For example: If you are looking for a specific fabric, include a written description, the manufacturer, name of the collection (if known), pattern number, color name and number, and number of yards you need.

Your request will be sent daily to 1,000+ independent fabric and quilt shopowners on a private email list.

National Quilt Contests in 2015

29. January 2015 10:21 by CarSut | 0 Comments

Here are 4 National Quilt Contests in 2015 that you may be interested in

2 are from nonprofits and 2 are from fabric companies

Sacred Threads: Deadline March 9

Quilts submitted should explore themes of joy, spirituality, peace and brotherhood, inspiration, grief, or healing. Quilts must be an original design or an original execution of a traditional pattern. The perimeter of quilts entered must fall between 80” and 288”. The nonprofit organization Sacred Threads produces this exhibition every other year, and this year the quilts will be shown July 10–26. Deadline is for digital images only. Details at sacredthreadsquilts.com.

Piece and Comfort Challenge, Moda: Deadline March 31

The challenge is to make a quilt honoring a military family in one’s own community or military families in general, using the Sandy Gervais fabric collections Because of the Brave and Red, White and Free. Entry forms can be found at local quilt shops, which also have the option of displaying the finished quilts April 6–18. Digital images of the quilts sent to Moda will be eligible for prizes and online display. Quilts must be 54” by 65” or larger, and quilters may choose to donate the quilt to a military family. Details at Blog.modafabrics.com/piece-and-comfort.

Animals We Love, Quilt Alliance: Deadline May 1

This is the ninth year the nonprofit, Quilt Alliance has had a contest and auction to raise funds. The theme changes annually. Quilts must be 16” square, and the Alliance suggests the theme be widely interpreted; animals can be real or imaginary. A trio of judges will pick the grand prize winner who will receive an HQ Sweet Sixteen. Alliance members vote for all other prizes. Finished quilts are due by May 1 at the nonprofit’s headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina. Details at quiltalliance.org.

Hoffman Challenge: Deadline July 17

Although this is one of the best-known and longest-running quilt challenges, many quilters aren’t familiar with it. The fabric for the 2015 challenge is from Hoffman’s Mandalay collection, it is inspired by classic global textiles, like those seen at Interwoven Globe, the major show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2013. The challenge curator will pick which items will tour. Entrants can make quilts, dolls, garments and/or accessories. Details at hoffmanchallenge.com.
